Defender of Díaz Approved Resumption of Maradona Death Trial

Defender of Díaz Approved Resumption of Maradona Death Trial

The defender of psychologist Carlos Díaz, one of the eight accused in the death of Diego Armando Maradona, stated that he considers the resumption of the trial in March 2026 to be 'correct.' 'We want to start as soon as possible, I understand that it has to be closed in four months,' Diego Olmedo said in an interview with the Argentine News agency. The lawyer expressed that Carlos Díaz is 'agreeable' to the resolution dictated by judges Pablo Rolón, Alberto Ortolani, and Alberto Gaig, members of the Oral Court in Criminal Matters (TOC) number 7 of San Isidro. Olmedo confirmed that he will appeal the ruling regarding the scope of the nullities: 'They delimited it too little, for example, the issue of the popular jury trial for Dahiana Madrid (the nurse).' 'If the magistrates say that is 'alive,' then the evidence that arises from that hearing about a medical report and a psychological report that are subsequent should also be alive,' he explained. However, the attorney classified the nullities as 'minor' since the 'trial has to be defined as soon as possible.' Díaz is accused of the simple homicide with eventual intent of the Argentine star along with neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, clinical physician Pedro Pablo Di Spagna, nurse Ricardo Almirón, his boss Mariano Perroni, and the coordinator of Swiss Medical, Nancy Edith Forlini.
